Post birth lady bits question

Something I don't want to discuss with my close friends who have children...

I only have one child and it was not an easy birth and ended up ventouse.

That was 2 years ago and since then I have had checks early on to check for prolapse - which I don't have.

However, where I used to just have a 'hole' straight up the vagina, now it is full of soft bits of 'stuff' - that looks like the same as the inside but the entrance is often 'blocked' by these sort of balls of 'stuff'. I even have one bit that is hanging down (inside). It revolts me quite a lot and is completely different to what I used to look like.

Sex is fine and not painful and fine when I get over the confidence of the weirdness.

So, am I alone or are there any others out there that feel like it's a bit of a 'car crash' down there???

Mine was just after the birth but it then returned to something approaching normal. I was horrified at first as I thought the odd dangly bits were going to be permanent.

It may depend on where you live but when I expressed my concern to my midwife/HV (can't remember which) I was told that I could have some sort of corrective procedure. If you are concerned that may be an option for you?

I think it's very common to have changes like this - not that it makes it feel any better.

Hi I had this and ignored it on my second child I became incontinent and unable to hold urine, (peeing six times a night) this continued after I gave birth and became painful to have sex. I now have a physio who has said it is a very weakend muscle and I am now unable to do pelvic floors to fix it.

How is your bladder control, my physio has suggested vaginal cones which have been really helping things but I had to buy them myself. May I suggest you ask for a refferal.

Hhmm...pelvic floor is ok as long as I do lots of exercises constantly. I am not happy though with bladder control as I thought it should be a lot better by now.

When I mentioned it to the GP 6 months after birth I was pretty much dismissed as being silly and told 'it's such a mess when they are trying to stitch things up down there, it's amazing they manage to do anything decent'. Have never felt happy though and the fact that it seems to change regularly - sometimes seems to be a big lump almost blocking the entrance. However, it does all give way easily - nothing truly blocking.

Yes hoopsadaisy that is exatly how mine was and I had to fight after dds birth even though it was agony to get seen. It took me a year and my phsio is disgusted I had not been seen earlier.

this is what I have to use and anyone can use them. You start with the larger one for a week without a weight hold it in for 10 mins and slowly up the weight using the different weights included e.g 5, then the 10 weight then the 5 and 10 e.t.c. Really helping me alot.

Update:

Definitely a problem and have been referred. There was talk of an operation and the implication that it wouldn't be too nice.

Anyone had experience of this?

Looking for info and reassurance......

No advice Hoops but wanted to say well done for braving the GP and taking steps to get yourself sorted out. I am sure if you were left feeling anxious by the appointment it would be fine to make a note of any questions you have and phone the GP back with them through the week.

Hopefully someone better will be along soon. Good luck :)

Is it the TVT operation they're advising (trans vaginal tape)?

Hoopsadazy · 20/02/2011 21:28

No idea as yet....
