Difficulty pooing.

I've seen a few threads recently which have made me wonder. After a difficult labour with DS, culminating in a tear and episiotomy and a ventouse delivery, obviously things have never recovered properly. One of the aspects to this is that I have to hold / press my perineum to have a poo. I thought that this was normal (not normal as in 'happens to everyone', but not anything to care about), but I've seen a few people talk about this as reason to see a doctor. Is this not normal? Confused

Hi Poopy Grin
I think a lot of women do this, it isn't something we talk about to our friends, is it ? I did it for a long time and after a while I realised I had a small posterior prolapse , a rectocele.I decided to ignore all pelvic floor exercises.
Fastforward a few years - I am now about to have an op to put my rectum back in place as it has ahem fallen downShock making it very difficult to poo. So my advice is see your GP for a thorough check up and maybe get a physio referral if just a minor prob?
Hope that helps

Tx

Thanks for your response :)

I've tried pelvic floor exercises (or my interpretation - it's hard to know!) & even bought an Aquaflex. My pelvic floor is not good (I can't jump around, even after immediately going to the toilet!) & I have occasional piles (well, piles to a small degree near-constantly, but piles to be noticeable every couple of months), so maybe I should go to the GP. I'd just taken it on as a natural consequence of childbearing!

I hope your op goes well :) x
