I am fairly new here, so will introduce myself! My name is Ell and I am 36 years old and live in London (originally from the North East).
I have been having trouble with Fibroids for around two years now, but the last six months or so they have been unbearable. i get SEVERE pain, very heavy bleeding and periods that last for at least four weeks.
I have tried two types of medication - Tranexamic Acid and Norethisterone with no relief, infact the last one turned me into a complete bitch.
Hopefully (if she is on duty) I am going back to see my nice GP tomorrow to explore other options as I cannot continue like this.
Today I had two severe cramps where I actually thought I was going to pass out, it wwas that chronic.

I'm just looking for other peoples stories really, I have searched this topic but have found most of the posts relate to fibroids and pregnancy and I am not pregnant, but would like to have children some time in the near future.

Thank you for listening.

Ell xx

The Norethisterone is hormonal as you probably know - it cannot be predicted how anything hormonal will affect you & it can take 3 to 6 months to settle down.

Have you only seen a GP, not a gynae? If so, ask for a referral asap. Are you trying not to have any interventional treatment to help preserve fertility? If you haven't already, you should also be thoroughly checked out to ensure there is nothing else going on such as PCOS, endo or adenomyosis, or even bowel issues which can contribute to the pain. There are various natural approach things to try - diet, herbs & acupuncture. Acupuncture in combination with chinese herbs often seems to have good results for "women's problems".

Sometimes it may be preferable to have the fibroids removed if they are causing such grief. Or how about trying to get pregnant sooner rather than later (if dr doesn't advise against this of course)?

If you are not already under the care of a gynae you need to see such a person asap.
This is not the type of issue that the GP should try and treat.

It is all very well treating the symptoms but the cause needs to be properly determined as well.

Endometriosis as well could be another possible reason for both the heaviness of bleeding and pain so this needs specialist help.
