Dd3 is 16 weeks & I'm still getting episodes of it. I'm having Physio & it was getting better but it started again two weeks ago.

Is this normal?

Sorry to hear you are still suffering. i think SPD normally clears up immediately post-partum. Mine did with dd1.
After dd2 (SPD from 16 weeks, big baby, 32 hour labour) it didn't.

I have seen an osteopath (when dd2 was 14 months) who has helped enormously.

Some people say it improves when you stop breastfeeding but mine didn't.

Thanks this was my first time & it didn't take long to get off crutches but tonight I couldn't get up the stairs carrying dd3

It's normal I think, within the normal range, anyway. Good that you're getting physio. The Pelvic Partnership are worth a google. No time to write more but take a look if it doesn't clear up soon. Good luck.

SPD normally gets worse with subsequent pregnancies. My SPD disappeared after I gave birth to DD but was much worse with DS. Initially I thought it had gone away after I gave birth but it came back when DS was 12 weeks and was very troublesome until I stopped breastfeeding when he was 7 months.

I had to see an osteopath and a physio which did help a lot. However, to be honest it was not until I stopped breastfeeding that the pain really began to settle down.

This was my first pg with it.

DC3 is 6m now and I've suddenly started to feel lots better. part of the problem had been general stiffness from 5 months of immobility. I felt ok at your stage nymph but not quite right. i still can't run but I walk 3 miles most days and can do quite a bit of yoga. The physio suggested pilates but i couldn't face it, I'm a yoga girl.

Mines not stiffness as such more too loose. Weightbearing is the main issue.

I do school run (20 mins) twice a day & am exhausted at the end. Am v unfit due to problems in early pg which meant I spent most of pg sitting down.

Went for an hours (v slow/flat) walk but it wrote me off for 2 days

Did the physio straighten you out or just give you exercises?

nymphadora · 26/01/2011 12:01

Gave me exercises. An still on v basic ones!

Also doing my stomach which has improved slightly. Up to 3 fingers in the gap now...

My physio did 3 sessions of pulling me around, she assessed in what way my pelvis wasn't straight then tried to manipulate it back ,I felt all skippy after she had done it, like my legs were working for me rather than me dragging them around which is how I felt before. I do exercises for pelvic floor strenghtening and 'glutes'.
