Bit worried about blood test results :(

I've just had to have some blood tests redone this morning due to technical difficulty but whilst I was there I asked the nurse if any results had come back. She had a look and said yes and that my plasma viscocity (sp?) is high and my urea levels low. Does anyone know what this could indicate as I've been looking on the net and it's worrying me

Sorry, I don't know, but bumping this in case someone else can help.

If you're really worried, ring either the nurse or the GP and ask for an explanation of what those results could mean.

And try to stop Googling CM, I am my own worst enemy with this.. but Googling for clues re: blood test results is bad news! My friend had high potassium results once and we spent the night Goolging away and had her diagnosed with all kinds of terrible things... when in fact she was.. and is.. fine!

I rang the GP earlier but can't speak to her so another GP is ringing me just before 5. Thanks for answering though.

Never ever google medical stuff unless you know exactly what you are suffering from.

LadyDragonOfSoup · 07/10/2005 13:32

Although the levels are high/low they may be perfectly Ok. Some of the levels in blood tests I had done for "tiredness" came back as low but the GP didn't mention them as being a problem at all.

CuriousMama · 07/10/2005 13:37

thanks LadyDragonOfSoup. I googled and found a disease with other symptoms I have that's why I worried. I'll just have to wait and see what the GP says.

Hi
Are you currently pregnant/postnatal?
I've been a nurse and midwife for years and have never heard of any healthcare professional giving those types of detailed results to a patient!!
99% of the time these results are insignificant!, and they just make up part of a test that would be being done for a more specific condition....
If concerned ask your GP to access these results and explain them to you......DEF don't search the internet.....it's deadly!!!!....lol

CuriousMama · 07/10/2005 14:54

I hope she doesn't get into trouble for giving them out as she's really nice.

Well, gp rang and said he wasn't at all worried about the results as they were borderline and just showed I hadn't had enough to drink that day You wouldn't believe what I've been imagining

thanks to everyone who answered me.
