I don't know. They just don't seem right! He has terrible nappy rash, which he has the canesten for, and has improved slightly. He's pooing about 6/7 times a day (3 times so far this am) for the past 4 days. His poo is different consistancy to normal. Kind of watery, little lumps and yellowey, occaisionally green. I should know the answer to this, but I don't. I know this isn't right, but could it be down to his teething? Don't want to start over-reacting, but I am quite concerned.

Anyone had any experience of poo changing due to teething?

my dd always had runny poo and nappy rash when teething.
Is he o.k 'in himself' ?

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 07/10/2005 10:27

He's been really cheerful this morning. Had a terrible night with him though. Oh I don't know!

god yes floss teething always affects the poo, and usually comes hand in hand with the rash too poor wee thing

just use extra sudocream or whichever your preferential cream is (i used to use sudocream as i pinched it from work )

how old is he now? my dd2 is a year next week and only has 1 tooth!

nailpolish · 07/10/2005 10:28

ps yes im still in the pub (although not right now!)

how are things with you?

Angeliz · 07/10/2005 10:29

floss, i would think he's fine if he's otherwise well ,iysmim.
As long as he's taking plsnty of fluids.

gingernut · 07/10/2005 10:33

Well, hate to contradict everyone but actually it could be a bug. Sometimes they do get mild bugs with just a touch of d and no v and they often seem completely unfazed by it. But the d does tend to be a bit caustic on their botties and of course pooing a lot doesn't help.

Could also be teething but TBH I've never seen such an effect with teething in either of my 2 (big sample size eh?).

If it is a bug it could last a week or even more, just make sure he takes lots of fluids and keep his botty creamed up.

BTW for teething I always find nurofen better than calpol.

He's a bit like his mum in that respect. Not keen on taking water!! Although atm I've tred one of the old beakers, and he's figured out how to use it now. Cue lots of eyes closed grinning after he's drunk from it!

He's 11 months tomorrow NP! And he has 4 teeth. Two middle top, two middle bottom. Am wondering though if another one might be able to pop! He took five steps yesterday too! Is your DD starting to think about walking?

The metanium has always stood me in good stead before. Although I brought some stuff which I thought was like cavilon, but turned out to be antispetic when I put it on his bottom. Bad mummy. The other thing is, his poo has had a wiff of the c diff about it. I know I am most likely just being neurotic and I've had him on the live yoghurt, but I do like to worry!

Thanks GN. I'll give him untill Monday then. Dp's in charge over the weekend, and am a bit worried that he won't notice it to be a problem when it is IYSWIM. So was wondering if I ought to get it checked today. Will start nagging him about it when he gets up!

ah, the fragrant c diff. lovely! why not take a sample to the hv? she could at least send it off.

nice, i know

has he been eating ok? has he vomited? i wouldnt give him live yoghurt, floss, maybe his wee tummy doesnt like it

dd2 stands still in the same spot for ages, thinking hard about walking, but doesnt manage it. but then she has a big sis to fetch and carry for her. i wish she would get more teeth though!

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 07/10/2005 10:47

He's eating fine. No vomiting. His bowels seemed to get a bit better after yesterdays dose of yoghurt, so don't want to give it up yet! It's certainly no worse for having it atm. Think if it is still bad Mon will take him to docs again.

Ah, see DS could do with one of those! Must be most useful, bless your DD's!

Live yogurt is fine (ds2 has it most days!).
