Hi ever since giving birth to ds 10 years ago, then 2 more kids i have suffered from stress incontinance. It happens when I sneeze, run, jump on a trampoline or shout! I have tried doing the pelvic floor exercises, but still have problems. Has anyone managed to find a cure either through exercise or operation. Would love to hear about somthing that works Thanks x

See your GP & get a referral to an incontinence physio

Several weeks/months of physio & you are likely to be sorted

You need a women's health physio rather than an incontinence physio

Get a referral and they can help

Well I had an incontinence physio in London, Liverpool & Norfolk.......so I guess that word usage is fairly standard

GingerbreadGiraffe · 12/01/2011 22:10

LOL ok

Women's health physio is who I saw- she was concerned with the whole picture than just the weeing myself bit!

probably just terminology

Thankyou both very much, I shall book myself in to see a womans/ incontinence/ health/physio. I'm not sure how they would help, do they give you exercises,or refer on for operation?

exercises initially (they often check you are doing your pelvic floor exercises correctly)

Then supported exercises (bio-feedback/tens type/can't remember)

Then referral to a specialist

Then majorly supported exercises

Then discussions about ops

But most people (70-80%) never get past exercises & tiny, tiny percentages end up with surgery (there are 3 or 4 types of surgery as well from the mildly intrusive to hitching your pelvic floor up to your shoulders Grin)

I hope I dont need that op!!!
My labours were very fast and short and I feel like I may have pushed my pelvic floor 'out' of position, as the exercises make no difference.
Thanks again Katymac and GingerbreadGiraffe for answering my question xx
