sunbathing is excellent for nappy rash, even if it's only 5-10 minutes several times a day. My romanian cousin told me she cleaned her boy's bottom with olive oil when he had a nappy rash that made him cry at the touch of water.

I don't know if anybody else has suggested this but I used Drapolene - it was fantastic - very gentle and not in the least bit difficult to get off afterwards.

I have a new problem now so would be grateful for any help - my dd is out of nappies but gets lots of itchy spots on her bum - drapolene works at getting rid of the spots but area obviously still itchy as she scratches and spots come back. Any ideas?

LaaLaa - what washing powder do you use? Are you still using non bio for the regular clothes wash? How about a powder for senstive skin like Persil Aloe Vera or one of the more specialist brands (can't think of names atm).

Totally agree with you about Drapolene - great stuff!

I still wash her clothes separately (including her towel) with non bio. Over last couple of days have tried Metamium - she seems to be less itchy - fingers crossed.

If anybody is interested - the metamium seems to be working - long may it continue

Metanium is brilliant but DS's bedroom is now covered in it as he will NOT lie still whilst having his nappy changed.

Incidentally I have also tried NOT using fleece liners during teething nappy rash as sometimes they can generate extra heat. Also boil washing nappies with Napisan to ensure there are no thrush bacteria in the nappies.
