Restless legs and arms, driving me crazy!

Help please!!

I've suffered on and off with restless legs and arms for years, it was particularly bad when I was pregnant, DD is now 3 and its back! Sad

I'm definately not pregnant! And I'm going crazy at night, the more I think about it the worse it gets, the only relief I get is taking two paracetamol and codeine mix tablets, but I can't take those every night?

My mum has suffered for years to and her's is worse than ever and keeps her awake to?

I've read it could be an iron defiency or caused by caffeine? My mum drinks tons of diet coke and I will confess to having drunk quite a bit of it myself over the festivties!!

Has anyone got any suggestions or remedies?? Or do I need to take a trip to the docs?

Hi,

I too suffer with this and I went to the doctors, they generally prescribe a super low dose of anti-depressants which will relax your muscles over night. I would recommend going as it really did help me, but I have it on and off so take the tablets for a few weeks/months then I can stop for a while. I find it gets worse if I have been doing lots of walking and am tired, hope you get it sorted it is awful (I kick dp in my sleep mwahaha)

Is this where you're in bed and you legs feel like they're just going to get up and jump around on their own?

I get that feeling all the time and have no idea why. I don't really drink alot of caffiene maybe only the odd cup of tea or coffee in the mornings.

It makes me feel like I really have to stretch the muscles and like I need to kick something. I hate it.

I was going to suggest iron deficiency and excess caffeine. Don't keep taking codeine. It's too easy to get addicted. Sometimes something cold on your legs can help. But the best thing to do would be to cut down slowly on your caffeine intake until you are caffeine-free, and to take an iron supplement. Get one of the non-constipating formulations!
