i know its not a decision to be taken lightly but they have always been horrendous. i have a choice of taking the pill and being a complete psycho or losing 3 days a month to pain and misery.

anyone had one for this reason or know anything about it?

I had a hysterectomy when I was 21 due to Endo and cervical cancer. My ovaries were removed.
I suffer with the most painful pains around the same time every month and am currently under my Gynae because there weas some residual tissue left from my left ovary. im due to go into hospital to have the tissue removed and have the adhesions seperated and cleaned out. The gynae is sure my endo is back
I have problems with my bone density and am currently hobbling around in plaster as I have recently broken my leg.

If there were any alternatives I would strongly suggest looking in to them before going ahead with a hysto. Ive not read the thread but im sure you have been given excellent advice by others

i have tried evening primrose, musiclover. didnt help at all. sex does sometimes hurt but not always. i had a quick look at the endo website and it says that can be a symptom (wasnt aware of that before). i knew it could make you infertile cos the dr i saw after having ds1 told me, but also said i was definately cured because i had a baby. shows what she knew. but then she was also the one who didnt believe i was in as much pain as i kept telling her, was very surprised when i didnt go on about how awful labour was, just said it wasnt much worse than a period.

im sorry youre suffering aswell louise, but was interesting to know there are other treatments. i have always just been fobbed off by doctors, have never been offered anything but the pill and pain killers. dont really fancy the mirena myself, so your post has made my mind up about that. would rather have the problem dealt with than just stop the symptoms

doesnt look like hyst is the answer really considering meerkats last post. is probably a good thing! there has been some wonderful info on this thread

omg jayzmummy, talk about being in the wars! feel like a complete wimp complaining now, hope you feel better soon! thanks for your post its good to hear all experiences good or bad. am not quite as eager to go diving in for a hyst if there are no guarantees it will work. would def be worth it if that was an end to it but not sure i want to put myself through that if theres a chance its going to come back anyway
