After reading many posts claiming we are not in an epidemic i feel this is not true.

Daughter aged 9 - had swine flu jab - on day ten of flu - not getting better.

Me aged 32 - had swine flu jab - on day six of flu - not going away.

Mum - had swine flu jab - on day seven.

Partners mum - had swine flu jab - oh and has flu.

I would certainly say epidemic status here - only 15 of entire country's paedatric intensive care beds are vacant. Rest all occupied with swine flu.

I would have to say that this swine flu has probably mutated or that the vaccine is totally useless so whats the point in having it. And they should shut the schools for the next few weeks until this godforsaken illness has calmed down.

sorry - if your flu would be milder WITH the vaccine.

I know a lot of people who have been very poorly in December up to now.

DD was ill with a sickness bug, very high temperature, very listless and generally not herself for five/six days. Several people at her school and dance school have had the same symptoms.

DH took his first sick day in 10 years and stayed at home under the covers, shivering and insisting it was cold, despite it being 24 degrees in the house and him under a blanket, plus his skin was on fire. He managed to get up that day and potter around, just felt awful with the temperature.

My mum has both been ill with a D&V bug, temperatures, feeling like crap.

Dad has had the flu jab (he's over 65) and I have had the flu jab (pregnant). Both of us have generally been okay; he had a day or so of feeling a bit rough, I have had a cough / runny nose and a day of an upset stomach.

I dont know if anybody I knew has had "flu" as such, or just a terrible bug that everybody seems to have had. Quite a lot of the people I work with have been ill with shakes / cough / temperature, but they have all managed to trudge around / sit at work snivelling. I would prefer it if people who felt that rotten would stay at home!

The reason I'm not sure if they have had flu is because they have all managed to be up and about. I've had flu once in my life, about ten years ago, and I dont remember any of the days I was sick.

It is scary; reading the papers. I always find it scary when the papers quote the stats of how many people die each year with flu, its shocking because you don't expect anybody to die of flu.

No, of course not, Bubbley. Still, we all had the jabs (for various reasons) so here's hoping Smile

Elibean · 03/01/2011 11:12

I think the stats are worst for vaccine efficacy on the over 65s, and they are offered a more powerful version?

So am now coughing up a little blood today, hopefully just irritation.

I know a heck more than four people who have this.

I still think the government not being honest, i think it has mutated or something. I never had flu that made me cough up blood before.

I am still coughing and can't speak more than a few words without being breathless. It is pants.

Sometimes I am fine though and then it happens again.
