Missed this as I was out all day yesterday. I'm v interested as I was glued to Paul McKenna's 'I can change your life' and was truly amazed by what appeared to happen on those shows.

Thing is I listen to him and I know it can work if you believe in them but what happens when the sessions are over if you get back into the habit of telling yourse;f you're afraid/upset/a coward/no good, etc? Is it a bit like dieting where as long as you stick to one particularl path and get into 'good habits', you'll be fine?

hunkerpumpkin · 02/10/2005 11:39

Glad it's going well - sounds like an interesting time atm with XP too!

I hope interesting in a good way, AM - is a reconciliation something you'd ever considered?

SherlockLGJ · 02/10/2005 11:50

Delighted to hear it went so well. Just take it slowly with XDP he has an awful long way to go, and you do not need his baggage, not saying don't do it just take it easy.

Oh Aimsmum, I am interested! VERY interested! What is the CD all about? How do you know it will help when push comes to shove or should I say when the vomit hits the fan?

Glad to hear you and your ex p had a bit of a cuddle. I am sure you could do with some tlc even if he isn't going to come back into your life for good. Anyway, if you can be amicable, it will help dd, won't it?

Aimsmum, I've got a few hypnotherapy CDs and they ALL say that it's fine to fall asleep during them - your subconscious part of the brain is still listening even if your conscious part has gone a-wandering

GeorginaA · 02/10/2005 16:24

Meant to also say, I'm really glad it seems to be helping - sounds like you've found a really good and thorough therapist there!

Lonelymum · 02/10/2005 16:24

And what happened at the hypnotherapy? What did the hynotherapist say to you?

Do you mind me asking, why did your mother come to you when she was ill? Do you mean she had a tummy bug? Or is she ill some other way? You see, if my mother had a tummy bug, I wouldn't have her in my house, but if she was ill in any other way, I would never have worried anyway. And in either case, I wouldn't be worried by her coming downstairs for a meal because I would trust her not to eat unless hse felt up to it.

You are right though to be pleased that you weren't bothered by the news that a woman at the chemist threw up. That news bothers me and I am at the opposite end of the country to you!

Sorry, I am aware I am being a bit bizarre, but I am trying to understand how your phobia is like mine. If things worry you that don't worry me, or if I am worse than you IYSWIM.

I imagine the CD would need to be in conjunction with the therapy otherwise the therapist would not be needed at all, would they?

Aw thanks. Yes, if you can have a D&V patient in your housewho doesn't need to be there, you are doing better than me!

No that is OK. Everything you were asked up to when you were hypnotised ties in with what I was asked when I went to my counselling session. But my counsellor couldn't help me further. I was wondering what the hypnotherpay bit was like really. I was given some numbers to ring of self help groups. Perhaps I should ring them...

That's fantastic progress I'm so pleased for you (that sounds patronising, but really not meant that way!)

I love hypnotherapy - I know it doesn't work for everyone, but those it does work for it really can work wonders. Keep us updated, won't you?
