Hi all im after a bit of advice please before i decide whether to call drs or not.

I had shoulder reconstruction surgery on the 22nd nov. They closed the wound which goes from my neck right down to just past my shoulder, with staples. I had these removed 10 days after op and saw my surgeon at the 2 week point everyone was happy with how it was healing.

The problem ive got today is it is so tender even clothes touching it hurt and it feels like someone keeps stabbing it with pins. Is this normal for a healing scar like this?

TIA

I've always recovered very well so not had this (sorry, not trying to skite, just saying that I'm no help as it could well be normal)

But can your surgery arrange for a dr to give you a call back rather than making an appointment? (Is this what you meant)? If so, I would ask them to do this for (hopefully) reassurance - relatively hassle-free :)

Oh and bumping for you!

it sounds like the nerves are just a bit damaged at the moment and it will pass in time, the skin just needs to heal properly which takes longer than when you actually get the stitches removed.

I get keloid scars, and have one which is still doing this a year down the line.

Rosa mosqueta oil is quite good for reducing the redness of scars.

i've had this - sometimes you have disolvable stiches inside the wound and then the staples on top. I was told sometimes the internal stiches can feel like they are pulling or prickling inside but that is just your body absorbing them
