Blood results from GP, what if it ISN'T and underactive Thyroid? Do they just send me away to be forever to be a walking corpse?

Thanks.

It took me an age to get the GP to send me for blood tests. I have had a problem with tiredness and coldness and weight for as long as I can remember. I use to be completely controlled by my motivation to seek out heat or a bed all waking hours.

This situation improved drastically when I got pregnant and I felt alive for the first time since my teens.

For 4 years I was either pregnant or breastfeeding and I felt tired, but it was a different kind of tired. An alive tired.

I finished breastfeeding a few months ago and I'm slowing grinding to a halt again and planning my sleep from the second I get up.

If the GP says my bloods are fine what do I do then? I'm certain that even if my bloods ARE fine, I most certainly am not. Any clues?

Many tia

Wish I could be more helpful but my gp sent me home said blood was fine and I should exercise more Hmm. I've been ill for 4 years now, I'm 27 and have a nap most days Sad.

I have just had blood tests for exactly the same thing, and they were clear, have come to conclusion it's just from all the physical and mental stress with DD.

StarlightWonderStarlightBright · 29/12/2010 13:05

Yes, Fanjo I'm worried that the GP will say that it is because I have two preschoolers and one with asd, BUT I'm actually a lot better than I was pre-pregnancy. I have MORE energy, than 10 years ago, not less (even when I was suffering with PTS, but it is slipping fast back to those days and I absolutely can't allow it too. I am barely managing as it is.

I had this a couple of months ago, exhausted, cold , hair loss, weight loss.Dragging myslef through my life, generally feeling as though I'd been knocked dow nby a bus. they tested for everything but all came back fine. the Dr signed me off for 10 days though, and i rested for the first time in about 4 years, since having the children.

She said there were some awful viruses around, some of which were lingering for 8+weeks, longer if people didnt rest.

GOod luck.

FanjoForTheMincePies · 29/12/2010 13:09

sorry, I didn't mean to add to your fears.

Actually I do also feel abnormally tired and am wondering what it could be apart from DD!

I hope the GP takes you seriously!

StarlightWonderStarlightBright · 29/12/2010 13:12

No, it's okay Fanjo I am very anxious about this appointment.

I know you 'know' me a bit and you'll be surprised, but the reason I haven't had my bloods done until now is that I was too cowardly to insist when the GP's (various) told me that every complains of being tired and I should simply improve my lifestyle.

I thought there was something else going on, but I just didn't dare insist.

I'm a different women from those days though, but it doesn't mean that I'm not anxious about the appointment. I want to feel better.

I know what you mean, it is REALLY hard when you feel the onus is on you to get a point across at an appointment, I feel that with DD's appointments and it is stressful.

StarlightWonderStarlightBright · 29/12/2010 13:14

olivio Yes, I know at least one of the viruses you mean. Our family has been going with a coughy one for about 8 weeks. It isn't terrible, but it does mean we're all a bit run down and grumpy.
