baby snoring!

I am currently sitting listening to ds (19 weeks) in his moses basket next to me sleeping... and snoring! Pretty quietly but all the same... He's a pretty sicky baby, and seems to have a tiny bit of gunk in his nose atm, and I'm a bit worried as I seem to recall snoring having something to do with apnoea and thatn in its turn with reflux (although I don't actually think ds has reflux) - can anyone advise? Should I take him to the dr or just be amuised by the sweet little snores?

My ds has snored since he was a couple of weeks old. I never once thought there might be anything wrong with him, i just think its really cute and it makes me smile. He's 13 weeks old now, so i guess he must be ok. I'm sure he's probably just snoring

Mine too has been snoring for as long as I can remember he is now nearly 6 months old as strong as an ox and still snores away.

If you are worried about something maybe you should ask your health visitor or doctor but to be honest I personally would not worry too much about it. Oh and he sicks up so much sometimes I wonder how he grows .

mine still snores - he's nearly 4 so it's beginning to sound a bit less cute
Have you tried a drop of baby olbas oil in the room - might clear his passages a bit

I think it depends how loud it is and whether it's obstructing his breathing. If he's got a blocked nose then that's probably causing it. If he continues snoring loudly once his nose is not blocked and it looks like he's having difficulty breathing, then it might be worth having him checked out.

In older babies/toddlers, they often check the tonsils (to see if they are v large) if there are problems breathing at night but I don't know if that causes an issue in babies so young.

ds3 snored when he was tiny but seems to have stopped now. mil said dp did it as a baby and she was told that babies arent supposed to snore, it means somethings wrong. but then she said she never did anything about it and he has turned out ok! dp snores occasionally but isnt one of these who keep the whole house awake so i wouldnt worry that it will affect your chances of grandchildren

My seven-month-old snores from time to time and has done since she was newborn. She was snoring last night but her nose is a bit blocked at the moment. It is very cute, and like newmumhelp I never worried about it at all. Until I saw this thread, that is!

My Health Visitor mentioned to me when my daughter was very little that at a certain age (probably around 4/5 months but can't remember) babies can make snuffling and sniffling noises while they sleep. I wouldn't take your baby to the Dr specifically about the snoring, but I would mention it next time you see your Health Visitor to put your concerns to rest.

Thanks all.
We think he might have a bit of a cold, so we'll see what happens after that. I have asthma so am a bit paranoid on anything to do with breathing.
