8 Weeks after the snip, do I need map?

DH and I were a bit silly last night and without tmi we didn't use any contraception Blush

DH had the snip 8 weeks ago so I'm thinking we'll be fine, although he hasn't had the all clear year.

I really don't want to take the Map as it makes me really ill but neither do I want another baby

It will be fine won't it?

Sorry but you're gonna have to go for the MAP. Obviously since your DH has had the snip you really don't wanna be pregnant.

Tillyscoutsmum · 08/12/2010 15:38

I don't think its the amount of time since the snip that is important, rather the amount of ejaculations. My understanding is that it takes most men around 20+ to get a clear result.

Personally, unless you have been at it like rabbits for the last 8 weeks, I'd be tempted to get the MAP Smile

Yup - that would avoid having to have the MAP as well Wink

20 ejaculations my foot! More like 50+ realistically.
It took DH seven months to be clear, and we were having lots of sex.

When is your period due? If it's within a week or so, I'd be tempted to wait and see.

ChickensHaveNoMercyForTurkeys · 09/12/2010 14:51

Agree with Mal. DH had to be retested after the initial 4 month period. Get the MAP.

victoriah3 · 09/12/2010 14:54

My hubby hasn't got the all clear after 11 months, still non-motile sperm in the sample. anyone know what that means? The Doc says they don;t do amything????

ChickensHaveNoMercyForTurkeys · 09/12/2010 14:57

Non-motile sperm means they're not moving, but still getting through. Hasn't the doc suggested further investigations?

victoriah3 · 09/12/2010 16:18

He has given a ample every month for the last four months, getting very tiresome. Doc says he will be clear eventually - just need to keep giving samples. Not really very satisfactory and we have to drive 16 miles to the hospital every time. Great fun?

Malificence · 12/12/2010 17:04

Non motile sperm can't get you pregnant because they can't penetrate the ovum, they are effectively dead but stubbornly hanging around in the vas deferens.

After 6 months he should get special clearance. I wouldn't bother with any more samples after 4 non-motile results.

SparkleRainbow · 13/12/2010 09:39

LOL at Victoriah3's description of non-motile sperm "The Doc says they don;t do amything????" is that the sperm of the dh's...... (wicked emoticon needed!) Xmas Grin

Seriously, hope OP is ok, and got MAP sorted.

SparkleRainbow · 13/12/2010 09:39

meant sperm or the dh......sorry
