Anyone know if I can take tranexamic acid while I've got a mirena in?

Hi all, that's about it really... this is my first post for so long, but I remember if anyone knows the answer to stuff like this, mumsnet does! Had a coil in about a month ago, so this is my first period. I know I'm still going to be settling down but this is day 9 .... arghhh! Not what I'd hoped for!

You should be ok to take it but, because of the issues regarding blood clotting and some interactions with other drugs that you might be using, I would recommend you ring your Pharmacist for advice especially as this is a prescription only drug. You will not be bale to take it if you are using drugs like ibuprofen or aspirin, unless your GP says so. Check before you swallow is my moto Xmas Grin

*bale should read able!!!!

Thanks for the reply... It was the blood clotting issue that was stopping me. I have an awful cold and throat and have lost my voice so at present can't ring anyone to ask advice! Terrible timing I know. Last thing I feel like doing is getting in car and driving to pharmacy but if same tomorrow will do.

21again you should be referred (by your GP or family planning clinic) for an ultrasound scan to look for it.
