I have only recently been diagnosed so no idea what the triggers are yet.

i find a cold flannel on the eyes helps. ALso basic paracetamol produces a stronger pain killing effect when combined with caffine. I could bore you with the technical information but should be in bed.
I find that blood sugar can be key to my migraines and sometimes if i forget to eat i get get a migraine and this is the first i realise about the food aspect. so a snack can help. but as much sleep as possible is often the only solution.

Hope u feel better tomo.

Go to bed, under the covers, dark room, sleep.

It's all that works for my dd.

Thanks everyone. It had gone when I woke up this morning and I have just come back from a 2 mile walk to get pet food and some other bits.

Don't have the coil.

I also have no appetite at all at the moment and have to make myself eat. So far I have had a spoonful of peanut butter but I am drinking water.

Glad you are feeling better.

For next time, try massaging the place where your skull joins your neck and the top of where your ears join your head.
It sounds weird , I know, but I saw it on TV, I think it was about Pressure points or maybe where you carry your stress?
Thankfully my migraines seem to have disappeared but it helps with most headaches, I find.

ItalianLady · 03/12/2010 11:29

Do you have to put a lot of pressure on your neck as I have damaged mine and are a bit wary of doing anything to it?

An Indian friend told me to tie a scarf round my head quite tightly and see how that worked well bugger me it did help and although it sounds crazy lot of my friends now do it for ordinary head ache.

I sympathise with your migraine and glad its gone now.
Agree with most posters about helping once it starts, but I always keep Migraleve with me.
If you get the mixed pack, sometimes two pink ones will stop the pain before it really starts and there are yellow ones to take if you need more, but these make me sleep. This medication is so reliable it's worth trying, but I do hope you're over it now.

From everything I've read, keeping your blood sugar even by regular eating is the single most important thing for prevention. Peanut butter sounds pretty good.

ItalianLady · 04/12/2010 10:19

I am on medication from the doctor, can I take migraleve as well?

Have taken it for about 20 years, am still on lots of meds and have never seen warning about it, but NHS Direct or pharmacist will know. Good luck.

Thank you.Smile
