earlier this evening a piece of wood fell of dd3 arm. it missed her head so thats a good thing. but it was a heavey bit of wood, and she was crying a lot. i was going to rush her straight to hospital but dd1 got hysterical over the thought of dd3 going there (she links hospitals now with Peter and long stays, said she didnt want dd3 to stay in hospital away from her). dd3 stopped crying soon after and i looked at her arm. looks a bit red and bruised, but she is using it fine, has been grabbing me. have i done the right thing? she doesnt cry if i touch her arm which is good right? or should i still get her checked out as babies bones are quite soft arent they?

If she's using it OK and it doesn't seem to hurt when you touch it then I wouldn't take her to the hospital. I'd be inclined to see how she is overnight, and how it looks and feels in the morning, but it doesn't sound as if she's done any real damage from what you've said.

Can't remember what age your dd3 is, my dd broke her arm at 10 months and we knew cause she wouldn't crawl properly, is your dd3 crawling yet.

not crawlign really, bit of a commando crawl, but she was supporting herself with her arms afterwards.

misdee, if she's using the arm and it isn't obviously deformed (!), she'll be fine. Don't worry. Children's bones take a lot of force to break, much more than an adults( because they are quite elastic).

if she is grizzly tomorrowe i'll tajke her down a and e, or the gp 1st.
