Have changed my name for this because I am a bit embarressed. Really dont want to go to doctor as live in small village where everyone knows everyone and nearest town is too far away. Anyway my bits are very itchy and I have a bit of a discharge going on. Very uncomfortable!!! Ive never had thrush but wondered if this could be the problem in which case I think you can just get something from chemist cant you? If so will make dh pick something up in town for me.

sounds like thrush to me - get some Canesten Duo pretty sharp and get it cleared - i know exactly how you feel - never had it until this pregnancy and its a nightmare!

ooh chemist should be open soon1

Seriously though, doctor patient confidentialoty should still apply even in a small village!

sorebottie · 22/09/2005 08:21

gg it does apply just v difficult going in and having your bits examined by someone who is coming over for a meal next week!!!

if you can't get to a chemist, but there is a corner shop, live yogurt is also supposed to help cure thrush. at uni, the girl i lived with dipped a tampon into the yogurt and then inserted it, gave instant relief.

sorebottie · 22/09/2005 08:28

are you serious???? I can just about see dh rolling around on the floor in histerics watching me apply yoghurt, you did say yoghurt didnt you, isnt it kinda um cold? and what is it supposed to do to the thrush?

Important. If you have had sex with your partner, it's prudent that he treats himself with the cream too. Men can carry it around but generally without symptoms and cause you to flare up again.

Generally in pregnancy, it's the hormonal changes that cause thrush to flare up.

It's really miserable. Just stroll into the chemist and ask for canesten, but seriously, as you are PG you get the stuff for free - so go to your docs, and tell them with authority you have thrush and need the cream. Chances are they won't need to examine you.

sorebottie · 22/09/2005 08:31

so he can use the same stuff and what about the yoghurt still fascinated by this can he use this?

Thrush is a fungal infection, and the yoghurt will help to neutralise it. It does work

sorebottie · 22/09/2005 08:38

right Im off to the corner store to buy yoghurt at a shocking price and when I get back DH is going into town to get the cream, so will hit it with both

make sure its live yogurt, don't think a muller crumble corner will help!
