If you can do it teaspoon of salt in a tumbler of hand hot water, rinse for one minute several times a day. Otherwise corsodyl mouthwash.
If you are swollen you need antibiotics usually metronidazole.NHS Direct time I'm afraid

Are they actually breaking through? Or are they impacted (in which case you might want them taken out in the future).

hateful things Sad.

ouch, mine (well the 3 I still have) are all impacted on the nerves or in my sinuses.

You can't go all weekend with your jaw exploding.

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 20/11/2010 17:48

how do you know if they are impacted?

From an x-ray. Mine are all at an angle jabbing the roots of my other teeth. It means they can't break through.

My dentist was only happy to take one out (lower right) when it was agony, I have to wait for the others to really hurt before they will touch them as they don't want to bugger up my sinuses Hmm.

MillyMollyMardy · 20/11/2010 17:59

Impacted isn't to do with the nerves, it's describing the fact that the tooth is stuck against the tooth in front and can't come through properly. You can usually tell as the bit of tooth you can see is tilted. The nerve bit is a nerve that runs in your lower jaw and the nearness of it to the tooth root is taken into account when deciding the degree of difficulty removing them. In the UK NICE guidelines for wisdom teeth also have to be followed to decide if the teeth need to come out.

Don't use corsodyl mouthwash, it will stain your teeth brown

i used to make a painkiller in to a paste and put it straight on to the gum/wisdom tooth...worked for a while? or try chewing gum...dont know why this worked...just did...or TCP worked for a while

MillyMollyMardy · 21/11/2010 14:00

corsodyl is fine in the short term, it will stain if you use it everyday, be very careful about applying painkiller's directly to the gums, that's not how they work and asprin can give severe burns.
