Ectopic heartbeat and PG

I've been having ectopic heartbeats for a few years now.
Early on in pregnancy, it was happening more often (due to tiredness probably) and I had an ECG which picked up nothing (was done at the wrong time of day, as it was only happening in the evenings).
Now 29 weeks, and tiredness has kicked in again, and the ectopic heartbeat is happening more often, sometimes several times at random times of the day.
Everything I've read about it suggests it is nothing to worry about it, and I'm not overly worried, but do wonder if I should be going to see the doctor again.

Is it worth getting checked out, or will I be wasting the dr's time?

I only clicked on this cos I wondered what an ectopic heartbeat is.

Tis 13 years since I was last pg!!!

Anyway, my first thought is yes, if you're worried you should see the Doc. If only to put your mind at rest. Why not? You are PG, you are 29 weeks, you deserve to put your mind at rest!

Hi,

I've had a heart rate which incorporates ectopic beats pretty much most of the time for the last 8/9 years.
I've been through 2 pregnancies and natural births, as well as having echocardiograms, ecg's, and the usual cardiac investigations. There was nothing physiologically wrong with my heart.
I have them most often when i'm tired (which is all of the time!) or when very nervous.

With my first pregnancy they weren't picked up even though i'd mentioned them but with my second it was picked up by the sonographer at my 20 week scan and it was he who sent me for the further investigations.

Very often, ectopic beats are just anomaly's which mean nothing, sometimes they point to something else. My Dad gets them too so we assume its a family thing.

The only time it made me slightly nervous was when I had pethidine in my first labour and my rate slowed enough to alarm my poor midwife!

Just ask your midwife to refer you for a quick echo which will have a look at all areas of your heart. Hope that helps.
