My ds is 3.5 and has always been plagued with chronic ear infections, had grommets last year but still the infections kept coming.

About 4 months ago I read an article that said that 3/4 of infants are intolerant to cows milk as it contains high levels of mucas, and that goats milk should be offerred as an alternative. In 4 months he has not had 1 infection, and that is a miracle wher my ds is concerned.

He also didn't notice a change in milk as goats milk actually tastes nice (unlike Soya - YUK!)

Might not work for everyone, but you can always try!

thanks!!!!!

aparently, according to gina ford anyway, organic cows milk has considerably less mucus that run of the mill cows milk

fimac1 · 19/09/2005 16:38

Worked for my ds also - but we used Soya

Why don't health care professionals tell you this FGS? I had to discover this for myself.

I know its so frustrating. Starting next week I'm going to studying to become a paediatric nurse and eventually a health visitor so this is one tip I will remember to pas on if anything to at least give it ago .

Actually - this worked for my husband too. He had a history of ear infections and grommets as a child - and even as an adult seemed to be more than usually nasally bunged up. I met a medical herbalist who coincidentally mentioned that she suggests a cow's milk intolerance to parents bringing children to her with chronic ear, nose and throat problems and recommends goat or soya milk.

It's sorted out his delicate stomach too. If I'm cooking, I make bechamel with goats milk and you can't taste the difference (although personally I notice it on cereal).

Red-me too! Wish my mum had had this info when I was a lass!

it's a bit soon to say though, surely, northerner? dd never gets ear infections in summer anyway.

I don't suppose anyone has a link do they? esp about the prganic milk - am loathe to cut out cows milk entirely.
