DH sleeping really badly

He lies there and worried about school, the pupils, the lessons planning. He is looking grey and tired all the time and has no energy.

He's only been teaching for a year. Any teachers out there - does the worry fade with time? ANyone - what can we do to help him. Sex doesn't seem to help Grin I've suggested he comes running with me but he doesn't fancy that. What else please?

Sad for him and you.

I know that eating carbs for your last meal can help but you probably already know that? Proteins wake you and carbs make you drowsy.

Have you tried massaging his back and chest with some lavender and chamomile? Body shop do a lovely massage oil with these in it's blended really well as they can be too overpowering sometimes.

He may need to visit his dr if it carries on as he'll end up poorly. Plus you don't need the worry either!

Carbs - OK. We do eat quite a lot of complex carbs but he did have cheese last thing last night Hmm

Thanks curious

I had cheese last night as was peckish and I did regret it. That and the wind howling a gale outside kept me awake.

If I get really stressed at work I sleep badly too. Here are my tips:

  1. Exercise every couple of days - a swim, a good walk or a run - more ofen and I get injuries.
  1. No caffeine after 6pm - not coffee, tea or coke.
  1. Cut down on alcohol.
  1. Lettuce makes you sleepy - have a salad with your evening meal
  1. Switch off at least an hour (preferably more) before bedtime - don't do marking late at night.
  1. Practice relaxation tecniques(sp?)
  1. Don't stay in bed if you can't sleep - get up and do something relaxing, then go back to bed when you start feeling sleepy again.

HTH

Thankyou purplekate.

He has started to 'self-medicate' a bit too much with alcohol recently. I have suggested he cuts down.

And I have tried to get him to meditate before now - he finds it amusing Hmm. I will have another go - he might take it more seriously now.

He may just feel embarrassed meditating. I do reiki and find that can be very good to help you relax.

Agree with all of the above was going to suggest excercise. And alcohol is a no no really it doesn't help you sleep.

Sadly, the stress doens't really get easier with teaching, as the longer you do it, the more you realise how much the policies go round in circles - you end up doing what everyone poo poohed six or seven years ago, as things come in and out of fashion. more and more crap is being piled on teachers in terms of paperwork and recording progress.

i cope by being good enough - i could be an excellent teacher but i am not prepared to sacrifice my home life and health to do so.

things like planning and discipline do become easier with time.

I'm interested in the lettuce thing !

Alcohol makes the quality of my sleep awful, wine especially.

Tbh I find piriton works wonders for a but of self medicating.

He could try kalms ?
