Mirena coil removed - No more pain!!!

I feel soooo great, I had a coil fitted in April 2009 and everything was great but this year I had a few pains which were put down to Water infections and given AB until the results came through and no infection was found. The last few months I've had awful stomach pains over to the right side through to the back and into my hip and was worried it could be grumbling appendix or worse.

I went to my GP last week and she said it could be the coil and she wanted it removed before sending me for scans etc...

I had it removed last night and I have had no pain since and am really hopeful it's what caused the problem. They were reluctant to remove it but tonight I have googled and founds lots of women with the same symptoms due to the coil!!

Wondered if anyone else had suffered too?

Yup me! I only had mine in for a month. They went to check it, I coughed and it shot out at high speed Shock

Be warned, in three days you will have the mother of all periods and probably be pretty crampy. But god I felt great when it was removed. You don't see the cloud was there till it goes away.

Thanks WMMC, I was worried about getting periods again properly tbh! I can't believe how long I left it before realising what the problem was, family planning seem so reluctant to take them out and blame them for any problems it's quite worrying, the GP their wanted me to go for a scan and tests first but I wanted it out and am going to look into sterilization.

The forum I looked at was all American women who had actually paid for it but were still told it couldn't be the coil causing pain!

I hope others suffering get it removed - surely the cost of 'wasting' a coil must outweigh scans etc...???

Off to stock up on tampons.. Grin

The issue is the coils themselves cost about £100 and to fit one, whoever does it get £500 because they are providing contraceptive services for five years. Nice work if you can get it huh?!

I had heaps of problems with the coil. Cramped so bad at one point that I almost dropped my dd who was 6mths at the time, while trying to lift her into her cot.

I had it taken out & was swabbed, I had an infection that I needed 3 different antibiotics for, for 2 weeks.

Still had pain for a while after, thankfully all settled now, but have been advised never to have another.
