OMG I have just wet myself, gave birth on Saturday ... is there something wrong

I just stood up and fluid started gushing from me, I couldn't stop myself from going, it was just a giant flow until I grabbed a towel and eventually it stopped. Went to the toilet straight away and still passed more fluid. Pretty sure its urine.

I have stitches from giving birth on Saturday but have been going to the toilet fine until now.

What on earth just happened?

start pelvic floor exercises now and get your GP to refer to physio ASAP. very common but not normal.

I can't believe it, I'm still in shock.

What will the physio do?

See GP / midwife, they will advise re. exercices and physio.

This happened to me the day after DD1 was born. Only lasted about 24hours though it was really Shock at the time.

x posts.

Unless you had other complications when giving birth, the leak is prob because your pelvic floor muscles were damaged / weakened by giving birth, and the pelvic floor exercices help you get your muscle tone back. This is usually enough to stop the leaking.

Will look for a link, back in a minute

pelvic floor exercices

That might help but maybe it's best to see a doctor before starting the exercices in case there's anything else wrong? Maybe someone else can advise?

Spoke to the midwife and she said that pelvic floor exercises should work, if not they would refer me to a physio on day 10.

Thanks for the advice when I was panicking last night Smile

Glad to help :)

I had this once a few days after I gave birth, happened just the once, and it's been five weeks now and didn't happen again. Hopefully for you it was a one-off too. Weird sensation, isn't it!
