Extra bogies during and post pregnancy

Between weeks 32-37 I developed thickened bogies (for want of a better word!) - they were not mucousy so I couldn't just blow my nose and remove them, they were thick and crusty so I'd have to scrape them out with a cotton bud. So this symptom disappeared after week 37, but I got them again last week (DS was 3 weeks) and still have them, and my nostrils are sore from the scraping, and I am fed up of not having clear nasal passages.
Has anyone heard of this before?
What can I do?

I had forgotten all about this but I had excess bogies whilst pregnant, pretty much all the way through. I think it returned to normal afterwards tho.

Thanks for replying.

Mine returned to normal but it's now back. V unpleasant. Think it's quite rare as side-effects of pregnancy go. Would like to get rid of it. It makes breathing hard.

Anyone else?

Yes, I had a problem with my nose throughout pregnancy...and without wanting to depress you (!), still have it and my ds is now 2. I have been seeing an ENT specialist who says the lining of my nose has thickened and probably need an operation on it. HOWEVER, he did say for the majority of people who get this problem during pregnancy, it usually clears up pretty quickly after the baby is born (at least by 6 months after). Good luck.

Thank you so much for the link, Franup. Very enlightening! I was feeling quite weird as I'd not heard of it as a side-effect, and no one seems to mention it at all.

13lucky, thanks for the warning - very much hoping I don't have it in two years! Though going to try for another baby by then, so may well, even if it clears up from this first one! Operation doesn't sound nice, though if I get a free nose job, might be worth it! Hope you are feeling ok about the op if you do end up having to have it!

LOL, cyb! Yuck! Ha ha! My nasal passages are actually quite small, and my fingers too fat, so I can't pick very easily - have to resort to cotton buds or a hair grip!
