Questionnaire about MMR

Blyssie · 08/11/2010 14:07

I?m doing a Early childhood studies degree in Swansea Uni and I?m doing a research project of parents views on the MMR jab.
If people could please lend a hand and fill out this questionnaire I would be very thankful.

Your questions are far too generalized and leading for me I'm afraid. There have been many, many debates on MN about MMR, with detailed arguments about people's experiences and the conclusions of the Cochrane report, and the way Wakefield's research was totally misrepresented. Your question 'Do you believe MMR causes austism' is impossible to answer. No, MMR does not cause autism. It may be a possible trigger for a very small subset of children and more research is required to establish the real risk [which won't get done]

So I cannot complete your survey.

Your survey won't let me tick multiple responses for my children in the question 'what age range are your children?'

You may want to reword 'paralysation' to 'paralysis'.

@POFAKKEDDthechair
Im sorry you feel that way, but i am only looking at a generalized over view of if parents now would get their child vaccinated after the MMR after the Wakefield research (and which one) which is one main problems MMR has had..

Im also very aware I only I only have limited question space on the site (10) and have to keep a low word count for my project.

As for the leading I did a small practice before putting it up and asked them if they felt it was leading etc..

As for the autism thing, I believe the MMR vaccine doesn't cause autism, however I spoke to a parent at work the other day and they were postive the MMR was behind her child having autism

@Sidge

As for the multiple choice problem on ages.. I have made the blunder of putting the multiple choice on the wrong question.. Which wasn't picked up by the test subjects..
I have however been able to add a note and thank you for pointing it out

agree. wakefield et al never suggested that the MMR caused autism. so it's an irrelevant question

the vaccination may be damaging to a small subset of children already at risk of, or diagnosed with, autism and may lead to regressions

so no, i don't believe it causes autism. but i do believe there is some link that needs further investigation..... it isn't as simple as a yes or no answer

thisisyesterday · 08/11/2010 15:47

and question 9 makes no sense:

do you believe it's too much or do they need to be protected asap?

and then we have to say whether we agree or disagree??? huh?

thisisyesterday · 08/11/2010 15:48

i think you need to speak to your tutor at Uni about this and figure out a better way of asking for the info you need

and re-do the whole questionnaire

POFAKKEDDthechair · 08/11/2010 16:29

well what are you trying to achieve with the survey? Presumably to establish that some parents are wary of the MMR based on misinformation and ignorance?
