Any opticians/opthamologists out there?

For a few years now I have been experiencing a strange irregular experience with my vision. It begins as a small streak of flickering white light which changes shape and expands from the centre of my vision to the periphery until eventually after 10-15 minutes it disappears. It isn't accompanied by a headache and I can't pinpoint anything which sets it off.
I first experienced it whilst teaching where I found that I couldn't read my computer screen properly as the words were partly obscured by the streaking light. Sometimes I don't have it for months and then suddenly it will occur. It has only occured since having laser treatment which makes me wonder if there is a connection.
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Sounds like migraine (aura without headache), but I'm no expert (except that I get them).

I agree it sounds very like migraine. I don't get headaches with mine.

I get a similar thing - migraine aura. When I was younger I got the headache after, now just the aura.

I recently went to the optician with the same thing (except that i experience completely blurred vision in that eye when i get it).

Turns out its an eye migraine (or Eye-graine as i misheardBlush) but also turns out that i needed glasses for reading/tv/mumsnet computer which was unrelated.

I get the same when I use the computer a lot and am tired. I spoke to the optician years ago and he said not to worry unless i start getting headaches with it (I do get a dull ache, but not what I'd call a proper headache).

as all the above.

However...... consider BP check and if a contraceptive pill user......

I was told oestrogen can swell cranial artery walls (ie stroke risk) when similar happened to me.
Not used cp since and (years later) same migraine symptoms were this time put down to stress heat dehydration etc
