Just got a letter calling me for an asthma review and it is with the nurse who refused to vaccinate my child and I don't want to go to be refused treatment/reviewing again.

Do you think she will remember you? If she does, and it skews her professional judgment in regards to your asthma then you would have cause to complain. Or you might find it's not a problem at all and she is fine with you. Is there another surgery you could change to?

phipps · 05/11/2010 12:26

I know she will. Really don't want to change surgery again. I just don't want to go to the appointment to have her send me away. They weren't bothered when she refused to vaccinate my son but I had to wait another 2 weeks to have him done.

Why did she refuse to vaccinate your child? Is she the only nurse at that surgery? If not you could ask to see someone else

NorbertDentressangle · 05/11/2010 12:35

If she refused to vaccinate your son it was presumably to do with health related reasons so there shouldn't be an issue with you going to see her for your asthma review should there? Confused

phipps · 05/11/2010 12:35

She refused because I asked her to do it properly this time as she didn't with my older child and he ended up in hospital. The doctor there asked me to tell the nurse that btw.

There is another nurse. I will try but I expect I will be told she is the only asthma nurse.

i refuse to see our asthma nurse. it really pisses her off. but she keeps trying to modernise ds meds and wont listen to the fact it does him harm. thank god he has a good doc.

DancingIceDragons · 05/11/2010 12:41

sorry point was does your surgery insist on you seeing the nurse and can you ring and change the appointment. it seems stupid that they are dictating the appointment time.

Goingspare · 05/11/2010 12:43

Make an appointment with your gp instead. Say why.

phipps · 05/11/2010 12:44

TBH I don't really know why I need to go. I am pretty confident I am coping with it fine.

Can you just see the gp instead? If this is going to become a recurring problem maybe you should change surgery otherwise your family will suffer healthwise.

phipps · 05/11/2010 13:01

My family will never suffer healthwise. There are other nurses, though my kids see the doctors, just no other asthma nurse.

Oh i see Sad You might have to just grin and bear it then. Go to the appointment, if she's got any sense she wont mention anything unrelated to your asthma. Think you may just have to find a way to get beyond the awful problem you had before.
