Just wondering if any one else has experienced this or could help shed some light stop the self diagonosing googling

Im 36. Regular periods (24 day cycle), always follow the same pattern. 1st day light, then 2 heavy days , then 2-3 lighter/trailing off days.

Nearly 3 weeks ago period came on due date but no light day, straight into 2 heavy days of bleeding then completely stopped-nothing at all; thought it a bit unusual but not worried.

Then on Sunday, so 16 days after start of last period, started again. Heavy bleeding for 2 days then seems to have stopped again today.

Have had very recent smear (about 4 weeks ago) not heard anything from that.

Shall i just wait and see what happens (in either 4 or 2 weeks i guess) or would you get it investigated? Seems to be too early to seek medical advice, on the streength of 1 change to cycle iyswim, but dont want to ignore it if i should be doing something...

thankyou

I would leave it a couple of cycles to see if there is a pattern before you went to the dr.
My cycle has changed due to the menopause, although I did think the ob who diagnosed it could have been more tactful. 'Frau Kreecher, you are 44 what do you expect?'

Thanks Kreecher-echoed my own feelings, and had wondered if it might be the early begiinings of the, gulp, menopause.

love the tact of the doctors, nothing like them to burst our spritely, youthful bubble..

I too have had 'what do you expect at your age?' when I was an ancient 39.

One or two weird or missed ones a year was deemed acceptable by the rude git Dr so am resigned to be in the land of perimenopause forever, 5 years on Hmm

It is an odd thing, I we don't want any more children, one is sufficient for us, but, the loss of AF is odd. On top of that, I've enough tampons and pads to last DD till she is menopausal. She hasn't started yet, but is looking forward to it.

Mine did this when I was 36, went on for a few months, then found a new pattern.

Unfortunately for me, it wasn't good - my new style periods were awful. Heavy flooding for days with large clots. Felt like my insides were falling out Blush. I went back to the docs who said they would investigate, I had scans, biopsy's, swabs - you name it !

Then they uttered the dreaded words.. Peri menopausal...I was only 36 FFS !

Anyway I have coped for a year with all this and over the last few months they have got worse (which I didn't think was possible). The Doc has now perscribed my Cerzaette mini pill, which I have started taking and wants me to consider the mirena coil.

So - I would go back to Doc's and I am sure they will investigate things further. I found them very helpful.
