Prolapse

I just have a few questions.

I wondered for a long time if I had one as things were quite uncomfortable after the birth, but after many GP examinations, the answer has always been no. I do worry about this happening quite a lot though as I don't feel I have the strength down below that I used to IYSWIM.

Anyway, my friend has also recently given birth and she tells me that everything "came down" at the birth, as it all happened really quickly. I had always thought that prolapses were more common in a long labour? Also, she has been told that she cannot have another baby for at least 3 years - why would this be?

And finally, how do you have sex if you have a prolapse?

Sorry for all the intimate questions and I understand if people don't feel like replying, but these are some things that I just wouldn't know who else to ask about!

A gp will not be able to see if you have a prolapse ( unless it is really really bad). You need a gynaecologist

What do you think has prolapsed? It can be womb or back or front wall of vagina.

Do you have trouble with going to the toilet?

Hi

I have had a very thorough internal exam by a GP and I have also been seen by a gynaecologist.

I feel that the front wall has come down slightly, however I have been told that the walls of the vagina can become "saggier" after the birth, without it necessarily being a prolapse. I have been upping the pelvic floor exerceises. I am quite happy with that outcome for the time being.

I was just curious about the other things.

Ok. It does get bigger/saggier- that's normal. That is sadly the reason why some women opt for elective caesareans.

A prolapse is very different. Sex is fine ( bit sore after).

The 3 year thing sounds odd- has your friend seen a gynaecologist? I had an untreated prolapse at birth- in fact No-one mentioned it afterwards.

A few years later I had a rectocele and cystocele which were repaired.
