Carpal Tunnel advice please?

Over the past week my hands have been horrible - feels like my skin is too small and have been waking up with pins and needles and numbness. I thought i'd been sleeping on them funny, but they now hurt all day and I keep dropping small stuff Confused
My wrists feel like someone is grabbing them really tight, bizarre as that sounds.
I saw a Rheumatoligist re-pelvic pain yesterday as I have hypermobile joints - and she said its most likely carpal tunnel and that if it gets any worse to contact my GP - but how much worse does it need to get?
Its worse every day and lasts longer so I dont know if I should hassle my GP - who hasnt proved very helpful with anything else in the slightest 'its all just part of being pregnant' is the automatic response or wait and see what happens?
Any advice welcome as Im kinda sad that something else is now giving me grief and hurting Sad
Thank you x

I had the most dreadful carpal tunnel syndrome in my first pregnancy. I used to hang my arms out of the bed to try and get some relief. The programmes on the World Service at 4am became old friends. In the end I couldn't lift a hairbrush to my head, or a kettle, or do up my own bra.

They gave me nothing but splints, which were useless, and told me to take paracetamol.

So I really really feel for you. The good news is that it disappeared on delivery, and that I didn't get it in my next 2 pregnancies.

I would suggest reading the book The Divided Mind by Dr John Sarno. It mentions quite a bit about the epidemic of carpal tunnel syndrome.

I had carpal tunnel when preg & found the splints quite helpful, so might be worth a try. I wore overnight & def not so bad the next day.

Oh I really feel for you I was in agony, indescribably painful - splints did help though ( at least you get enough relief to sleep)see your gp demand a physio appointment to get some fitted. Was really relieved when I had the baby - still had CTS but at least I could take ibuprofen - took about 6 months after baby to get to about 90% better though 9 months later still have some though very mild discomfort. I also seem to remember to avoid caffine was advised
