eczema cream for use on face

I get eczmea on hands (treated at times with steroid cream), but now have it on eylids and around eyes. The skin is continuously red, puffy, then flaky and weepy, feels tight and sore and the creases in the lids are very prominent making me look like a hag!

To cut a long story short, I have read everywhere not to put steroid cream on face....however am unable to get a dr appointment, so this morning i put some leftover 1% betnovate cream from hands on eyelids........within a few hours the skin appeared more normal, less puffy/red and not sore....however now the skin has started to get sore again and itch...sm tempted to put more cream on tonight.

Am i really going to do a lot of damage if i use betnovate on my eyes, or am i ok to use sparingly for short term use?!

what else would the dr give me?!....there is nothing else.
I used oil of oilatum and e45 but that stung and made the redness more pronounced.

anyone else have/had this?

My son suffers from eczema on his face around his nose and chin and i find best to use steroid cream every other day and smother him in epaderm (on perscription) morning and night. Its quite a greasy cream so prob best over night on eyelids. Since we started using it last winter his skin in lovely and supple. Hope this works.

Betnovate is very strong and I'd advise you not to use it on your eyes.
I used to use very weak hydrocortisone on my eyelids and they became very crepy.

If you are getting bad facial eczema you should ask for a referral to a dermo . You can get another cream which is not a steroid- Protopic- which is safe for the face- my son has used it all over for years- but you can only get it froma specialist. It is an immuno suppressant.
