Chicken Pox for 3 week old!

Help! I've just woken up covered in spots so it's likely I have chicken pox as i haven't had it before 9 i don't knwo how I managed to get away with it for 33 years) I'm worried the dd will catch it and she's only 3weeks old. she still doesn't have any spots and i'm Bf. I'm going to the GP this afternoon to get spme antivirals to make it milder for me hopefully and then I have an appointment with me peadiatrician for dd to check her. I thought she would def catch it if I have it but i've heard that this isn't always the case.

There's an outbreak at ds school but he had the chickenpox jab last year but he may have still carried it. I was about to get the jab but you can't have it until you've stopped bf.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, i know it can be quite serious in babies under 4 weeks so very worried! Also as an adult am I more likely to scar? Such a disaster, as if the sleepless nights weren't enough!

You poor thing, I hope you have lots of help. I'm sure your GP will give you lots of advice regarding your baby.

I had CP in my twenties and didn't scar, my sister caught it off me and was left with a little scaring on her face. I think as long as you don't scratch, you won't scar. (fingers crossed!)

I hope your DD is ok.

Thanks Lostart!
We're both on antivirals now, my paediatrician said the minute i see a leison on she has a fever I should call her and they'll have to put her on an IV drip for 5 days and i won't even be able to see her in hospital as I've got CP so won't be allowed! Hopefully it won't come to that and at least i don't care about my CP I just want dd to be ok. I've stopped BF and am expressing instead so she doesn't touch my blisters in case this helps.

Phone La Leche League, or ABM to find out whether there is any risk regarding touching the blisters.

Sorry - sent too soon. I mean that if there is no risk, then surely it's better to carry on breastfeeding such a small baby directly.

I hope you all are ok.
