Hug her, keep an eye on her for anything untoward and I'm sure she'll be fine.

starshaker · 14/09/2005 08:13

when she fell she was a bit sick and screamed for 10 mins solid not even occy (her fav toy) helped has quietened down but still grumbleing

Oh, poor both of you. Think we've all done this - I have. Presumably you've checked for obvious bumps? I agree with Soupy, that's all you can do really. How old is she? I always found milk (breast or bottle) cheered ds up.

starshaker · 14/09/2005 08:18

shes 5 months and is a bit sleepy but dont know if i shoud let her sleep

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 14/09/2005 08:20

Would she normally be sleepy at this time?

Furball · 14/09/2005 08:21

It's amazing actually that this has happened to most people. With our ds it happened twice once with me, then after hyper-ventilating telling the tale to dh - he obviously didn't listen and managed the same the week after DS was just abit shaken thats all.

When he was 2 weeks old I was carrying the moses basket when one of the handles slipped and out of my hand ds sort of rolled out, then plonk the matress and blankets landed on his back.

Oh dear - it's not looking good is it

triceratops · 14/09/2005 08:23

Poor baby star. Lots of love and a bit of calpol. I hope she is alright now.

starshaker · 14/09/2005 08:26

no she would not normally have a sleep till about 11 or sometimes after lunch. she had just woken up

Lizzylou · 14/09/2005 08:26

Don't worry Starshaker, I'm sure your little one will be OK, must have been an awful shock for both of you.

starshaker · 14/09/2005 08:28

yeah she looked at me with her big blue eyes as if to say why did u let this happen to me

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 14/09/2005 08:30

AAh, SS, she won't even remember it happened now!
She will be fine and will no doubt the extra love and care that you give her today!
Just wait until she is sitting up/crawling/walking...the first time anything happens to your precious lil one it's heartbreaking, now my DS bangs his head/falls over constantly!

starshaker · 14/09/2005 08:32

i was ment to be at work today but called in and told them id be in later if shes ok. really dont want to go as i wont be able to give her my full attention (she comes with me) but dont really know what to say to them

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 14/09/2005 08:36

You could just say that she was feeling a bit under the weather and you wee concerned and wanted to stay at home where she'd be more comfy?
Are they understanding?
Please don't worry, I am so sure she is fine...honestly, the amount of babies who have had accidents and fallen/dropped off things...they are more resilient than you would ever think. Your DD is lucky to have such a caring and lovely Mom!

starshaker · 14/09/2005 08:39

yeah the are really nice they have 2 girls that i look after and i know they wont be stuck today as the dad is there due to the petrol thing in england (were in scotland but he works as a house clearencer down there) he wanted to get some extra work done but ill be there for the rest of the week so dont see 2 much of a prob if im not there

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 14/09/2005 08:41

So stay at home and spoil DD rotten!
Lots of hugs and kisses and you will both feel better....

Starshaker -

So far my son has been rolled out of his moses basket at 10 days old (first time I'd met my HV too , dropped onto the bed and bounced, and rolled off his nappy changing unit (over a metre high and onto a wooden floor)

Babies really do bounce - but if you are in any doubt, echoing the sentiment to get her checked out - if you don't fancy A&E see if you can get her in to the Doctors - they're usually good at this. It will set your mind at rest if nothing else.

Glad you are feeling a bit better about it - it is a shock for everyone!

staceym11 · 14/09/2005 09:16

my dd has thrown herself off the bed twice, it was no major problem, she screamed and then i distracted her and she was fine. as long as shes acting ok. if she wants to sleep put her to sleep just make sure you check on her every5 mins. dont feel bad it happens to everyone!

acnebride · 14/09/2005 09:24

ds rolled off an extremely high bed while i was watching 200m final in the olympics. [guilt emoticon] screamed blue murder, went to sleep and was unrousable so i called 999! - of course by the time the ambulance came he was awake and fine, but they still had to take us to a&e. all was well.

sorry no advice but believe me it happens to - well, I'd say most people.

starshaker · 14/09/2005 19:30

maybe he was practicing for the high jump. glad all was ok.

shes fine now a bit grumpy but that could also be cos her jags yesterday
