Hi!

You have my sympathy - if DH is away I really struggle to sleep!

I take Atenolol (beta blockers) for a little heart problem I have and I have discovered they are fantastic for dealing with this

Alternatively I just chuck a load of booze down and that usually gets me comatose - BUT - couldn't bring myself to do that when I was the only adult in the house - just in case!

Not really too sure what to suggest - just off to bed myself now

Take care xxx

I used to have real trouble with insomnia and i am worse when in on my own, you've probably tried everything but I started a stricter bedtime routine (just think toddler). No stimulating drinks 1hr before, limited TV or computer use and leave time between watching TV and going to bed, don't try to go to bed too early, put all worries, things to do and mad thoughts down on paper, try to get things in order for next day so you know you are prepared. Don't read in bed unless you find it relaxing< I do and often fall asleep reading.

Top Tip get off MN now .

What works for me it's to read a bit before going to sleep (normally I'm so tired that I fall sleep few lines aftr starting). Try to find a book that is relaxing and has a feel good factor without being overly interesting, otherwise you will get stuck in the trama and off goes your chance to sleep! HTH

Off to try it

im glad to hear that on the whole you are feeling better essbee thats good think that recovery from depression is a slow process but once you realise that you are heading in the right direction it becomes a lot easier
i went for lots of reiki (luckily i found someone who was/is very knowledgable and good at it ) when i felt bad and i swear it totally changed my energy around (no one could tell me it didnt) its not a quick fix though
have you done anything physical to help like yoga ? i managed to get to one yoga class when i was pg (wished it was more) and i swear id forgotten what it feels like to be relaxed !!
could do with a yoga sess everyday but of course i never get round to it
im off to bed now night essbee x

Sympathy, Essbee, I'm also having a few problems sleeping atm. I've taken Nytol herbal tablets for two nights and they seem to work. Have you tried having a radio on low in the background? It's reassuring and quite soothing if you wake up suddenly, plus you can tell whether you've dropped off for a while cos the programme has changed while you've been asleep!
