Hi

I have been taking the Zynerit for 3 weeks now and although i noticed more or less immediate effect in that the redness went down and was less 'angry' looking since then it has stayed fairly the same. I guess the hot weather and sun doesnt help although i try and cover up. I am only supposed to take for another 2 weeks (according to directions) so will see what happens. How long do you use it for? it does feel fairly strong stuff and stings when you put it on but havent suffered from any dryness/flaky skin - yet.

Oh, I'm sorry it's not working for you. It was so great for me, I thought it was a miracle cure! Persist until the end, and if it's sore then use a bit less and apply some soothing moisturiser or vaseline in between applications. I agree, the sun and heat don't help me either - I get bumpy in the sun so am addicted to fake tanner for my face.

If Zynerit doesn't work for you, you can try Metrogel (I interviewed a Harley St dermatologist last week!) instead. I'm like you in that I don't want to take oral antibiotics so was thrilled to find something effective, but I guess we are all different.

I really hope the last two weeks make a bigger difference for you.

Thanks - but will be a bit embarrassing asking for that when it was my idea to try the Zynerit. Was it fairly immediate with you??

I think so - maybe two weeks. I know quite a few people who swear by it, honestly. If all else fails, go to your dr and blame me!

Manfwood · 12/08/2003 15:35

Of course i wouldnt do that - it is just one of those things i suppose!

by the way have you ever suffered from Ocular Rosacea which affects the eyes. just wondering as my eyes have been a bit sore the last few weeks and i have found myself taking my contact lenses out more often - but again it could be th heat/sun.

No, I don't think so. Poor you! Mind you, this heat is responsible for me having very red eyes due to ds waking up all hours bathed in sweat!

And really, if you don't see some improvement within the next week or so, you have my full permission to tell your dr you were hideously misled by some stupid woman you were talking to!

Hi there it's Manfwood again! - except have changed name since last time!

Just to let you know i'm going to see a dermatologist in a few weeks time so that is a bit of a result i hope...
Basically my chin flared up really badly a few days ago - horrible and red, pimples etc and really painful throbbing feeling. I phoned the Dr but mine was away so spoke to another one who suggested trying the Metrogel/Rosex cream again but that i needed to take it for quite a while - 12 weeks for example and that one tube might not be enough. Well i know this sounds stupid now but no one had really told me this before! I suggested seeing a dermatologist and so had an appointment with different doctor yesterday.

I explained to him that i didnt want to take long term antibiotics as may be trying to TTC again soon (well possibly) and needed good reason so that BUPA would pay for me. He agreed a dermatologist is a good idea but has also given me Metrogel and some Erythrmycin which is a much more gentle antibiotic if I did get PG for a few weeks.

Trouble is that my skin hopefully will be a lot better in two weeks time by the time i go and have my consulation! Also have heard that this Dr is a bit of gruff consultant type but at least it is something....

Any advice on how to deal with brusque consultants would be welcome!
