Is feeling full a side effect of IBS??

I had gall bladder out 3 years ago now and had trouble since, after many trips to GP and loads of tablets but no testing Hmm they have said IBS. However as well as the pain and bright yellow poo (Sorry TMI) I now have trouble eating a whole meal, even a child sized one :( I look about 5 months pregnant with the bloating. I also feel sick if i dont eat and but feel sick if I do.
I am def not pregnant. Im tired of going back and forth and just getting tablets and fobbed off.

I don't think so lisad. I have horrible IBS which does give me bloating after meals (not all the time), wind and diarrhoea, but not a full feeling. I think you should get checked out again. Do NOT worry about people labelling you a fusspot. If you feel that something is wrong, trust your intuition. You should be tested for everything before IBS is diagnosed, it is a diagnosis of exclusion. If I were you I would ask for endoscopy and colonoscopy. Good luck and take care of yourself, eat lots of small meals to keep your energy up even though you get full easily.

Hi Lisa

I sometimes get the same feeling as you and I can only eat small "meals" now. I have had test after test done and seen so many people in different fields, it's a joke!

I have been told that I have IBS but I'm not convinced, I think that if Dr's can't find out what's wrong they give up and just fobb you off with "Oh it's IBS" Angry

I've had CT scans (one with contrast dye), MRI scan, LOADS of bloods taken, 2 Endoscopies, Barium follow-though, lung function test, Synacthen Test, Alpha-1 test.
and NONE of them came back as abnormal.
My last resort was to see a Professor of Neurogastroenterology up in London hospital. He said it could be an overgrowth of bad bacteria in the gut. I am now on a 7 day course of Amoxicillin (you can see my reent post for my experience on that so far lol!)

In the meantime I've had dizziness, headaches, migraines, LOADS of nausea, diarrheoa, irritability, weight loss, lack of appetite etc etc.

See if you can get more tests done to rule out anything sinister like Crohns or Celiac Disease.

I Wish you luck X

Hi Lisa Lou with dizziness and migraines have you been tested for anything vestibular i.e. inner-ear related?

LisaLouise73 · 11/10/2010 14:24

Hi tc

No I've not had anything tested about that, maybe that's next on my list! x

takingchances · 11/10/2010 14:59

Well because vestibular disorders affect your ear, your balance is affected - which makes you feel dizzy and in turn nauseous. Just an idea, you could mention it to your neurogastroenterologist to see what s/he thinks.
Hope both of you Lisas are feeling better very soon xx

If you are constantly feeling full, and you've been told it's just IBS, please go back to your doctor. It can be a sign of ovarian cancer.

motherinferior · 11/10/2010 15:05

www.ovarian.org.uk/ovariancancer/whatyoushouldknow.asp#signs

I absolutely don't mean it is necessarily ovarian cancer, but as it can be a sign it is worth checking out.

will try and make appointment in the morning. Im feeling so pants right now :( All I can seem to manage is some noddles and rice at lunch, a small bowl of cereal in morning and a chil size dinner Confused

Show the GP that checklist. And start keeping a symptom diary.

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 18/10/2010 13:31

ell refused to listen told me it was IBS, even when I questioned "feeling full" as a symptom. Great more tablets Hmm

Ring the charity - and fwiw I've had IBS since I was 13 and have never had the 'feeling full' sensation.

Once again, I'm not trying to frighten you. I do think that if you have those symptoms, they should be taken seriously.

motherinferior · 18/10/2010 13:53

You need a second opinion. Please, can you go to A&E or something?

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 18/10/2010 14:06

its not really an A&E thing though is it? :( I just wish I was a bit more forceful about the whole thing.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 18/10/2010 14:09

No, not A&E but you do need a second opinion, and frankly I'm surprised that your GP hasn't referred you on. (I've been referred on with masses of things.) I would make another appointment now, and take someone else along to help insist on seeing a specialist.

motherinferior · 18/10/2010 14:11

www.ovarian.org.uk/download/symptom_diary.pdf This is helpful. Surely you can see a different GP at the practice?

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 18/10/2010 14:22

thanks will try and get DH to come along next time but think his got his own worries with his own cancer, I dont like to worry him too much :(

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 18/10/2010 14:26

he also said that as they had been in there 3 years ago doing my gall bladder removal that they would have seen nasties and I also had a CAT scan at the time too.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 18/10/2010 14:37

Yes, but that was three years ago! You've got these symptoms now. And that's only that particular condition. Clearly, something's wrong. You need a referral.

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 18/10/2010 14:46

thanks will do check list and also look at moving surgery too, had enough with them, they missed DH cancer for over a year!
