Had it for 7 years, seen 4 different doctors over the years, all say its very common and give steriod creams, but I can't do steriod cream for rest of life - skin thinning, cancer etc.
Desperate [very very very sad and embarrassed emoticon]

Are the four doctors you've seen all GPs, or have you been referred to a dermatologist or other specialist? If you haven't, then maybe you should ask to be referred. You shouldn't have to put up with this being untreated.

bambi06 · 09/09/2005 20:30

worms?

mumtosomeone · 09/09/2005 20:41

my dad used to have this!!!he wont mind me telling you!! He had cream bought over the counter in a yellow tube..cant remember what it was called..began with 'l' I think!
Not much help really, cant go to the chemist and say I want some cream for my itchy bottom can you!!!

waterfalls · 09/09/2005 20:43

A bad diet can cause this.

mumtosomeone · 09/09/2005 20:45

itchybottom

any help?

waterfalls · 09/09/2005 20:48

here

ouchouch · 10/09/2005 08:25

Yep they were all GP's. They all seemed to have the attitude that it was common and would go one day. I don't have worms, one did a swab for any kind of fungi etc. I eat a healthy diet. Follow all the hygiene advice.. at my wits end with it. It is so embarrassing, I have always asked to see female doctors and the thought of being referred to someone (who then might me male) is enough to make me crawl under my bed and not come out!

wish i could remember the name of the cream//want to say lancome but know thats wrong!!!
Was the link any help?

ouchouch · 10/09/2005 08:31

I think I know the one you mean, its larnacane or something similar - has steriods in it though - when i use these it goes for a couple of days then comes back. The links are advice I have followed already - I have tried it all but no joy

unit · 12/09/2005 01:57

Hi ouchouch,

are you sure it's not piles?
I had it few times, and the first time it happened i didn't have a clue what it was, thought it couldn't be piles cos i thought they're supposed to hurt, not itch like mad!
Anyway, went to my local Boots,as i couldn't face my doctorand got Germoloids cream and suppositories, and i have to say,it worked a treat...relief!!!I don't know WHAT i would have done if that hadn't worked,as it was pure hell...so i do symphatise...i really hope this helps, worth trying!I just find it strange that few friends i talked to who have/had piles all say theirs hurt, didn't itch!Oh well...i've always been different!

katymac · 12/09/2005 07:07

My Dad has this and he says the only thing that helps him is a bidet. He washes properly after eveytime he goes to the loo.

I had it a bit and now I use a flannel (when at home and it is a separate one) and hot water.

BUT he does that where ever he is (how awful in a public mens loo - without fail)

Oh and no bubblebath

munz · 12/09/2005 07:29

ouchouch, prep H is the piles cream (gel) it's the only thing i've used to relieve it, althou i'm havin the same probs, mum thought mine might be piles as well, so went to the pharmacist and said I think I may have htem and she gave me that - mainly now I just put up which is prob not the best thing - might mention it to the m/w incase. (my bowl movements are OK - hope urs are as well - cos isn't that a sign of worms - or is thta only for animals?)
