My periods are regular, but have been getting increasingly heavy and long (although not particularly painful) since having my second child 2 years ago. They've gone from lasting about 5 days to more like 7 or 8 days.

My current period has been going on for about 12 days now. Very light for the the last 5 days, but not completely gone. What could this be a sign of?

I had an ultrasound a few weeks ago for abdominal pain in my left side (comes and goes; doesnt particularly coincide with my period) and was told everything looked normal and that it wa sprobably IBS.

Any ideas? I have a doc's appt booked again, but won't be for 10 days.

I had this several times from around the age of 38 - I don't know how old you are but it could just be very early perimenopausal stuff. It can also be linked to fibroids so I was scanned for them, but I was fine.

I have this and was diagnosed with fibroids. Awaiting a gynae appt next week to discuss treatment options.

Katisha · 07/10/2010 22:38

How old are you?
I have had this occasionally and think it's perimenopausal stuff happening.

dearprudence · 07/10/2010 22:48

As others have said, your age might be relevant.

I've had similar recently - I'm 42 and deffo putting it down to menopause type stuff.

Oh, hope it's not menopause. I'm only 33 Shock

Would fibroids not show up on an ultrasound?

Thanks for all responses, btw!

Doh Blush, sorry, missed that you'd had an ultrasound. Yes, fibroids would show up. It's highly unlikely to be menopause at your age so try not to worry.

Have you had blood tests?
