Burnt finger, plaster or no plaster?

I burned my right forefinger on the oven shelf on Sunday only about the size of a tic tac.
A couple of days a go the blister came off and the now it's all gooey and sore. I've had a plaster on it for work, so people don't have to look at it.

So that's it; plaster or no plaster?

I wouls say no plaster, to let air get to it..i think keeping the plaster on would keep it gooey iykwim..

Ouch, sounds really sore! Hope it feels better soon!

would

DanceInTheDark · 07/10/2010 15:03

no plaster

Schroeder · 07/10/2010 15:55

Hmm am confused now.

Have googled a bit and the consensus seems to be that if the blister has come off or burst then a non-adhesive dressing should be used.

I think I might ask the pharmacist tomorrow.Confused

My system is usually plaster during day for hygiene reasons, but plaster off overnight while sleeping to dry up.
Have usually got either aloe vera plant indoors and/or comfrey plant in garden for burns, rather than just a plaster...

coatgate · 08/10/2010 10:48

I would say no plaster - let the air get to it.

IMoveTheStars · 08/10/2010 10:50

i would say wear a plaster if you need it covered up, but get air to it as much as possible.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/10/2010 18:58

non adhesive plaster, it will heal even if covered.

Plumm · 08/10/2010 19:01

I did something similar and the chemist said it was fine to wear a plaster.

TheFoosa · 08/10/2010 19:08

I had to wear a plaster over a burn today at
work

it has made it sore and red and a bit gooey

so I would say no plaster if you can
