Does anyone else have an excitable bladder?

I often feel the need to urinate, yet when I go to the loo there's barely a trickle. And I still feel like I need to go. After several urine tests/examinations for prolapse etc, my doc said he thinks I have an excitable bladder and that it could be linked to my IBS. Great. Does anyone else have it? And how can I train my bladder? (Because it is driving me freaking mad!!!)

Oooo I do this! I have to go to the loo all the time, sometimes productive, sometimes not. Sometimes I go, stand up, sit down and go again. When I go to bed I have to go every 20 mins until I fall asleep. Drives me mental.

I always say I've got an irritable bladder chickens - it's always worse after sex or during a period. Mornings are worse for some reason, I have to go at least 3 times in the first hour after waking.

Sex is evil with this. There's no romantic loving cuddles afterwards in this house - I'm straight into the bathroom getting upclose and personal with the loo seat!

And yes, tea or coffee is a killer. As maresedotes says, I'm so glad I'm not the only one.

Yip, you can maybe train your bladder out of this, but it takes a lot of patience. The basis is that you try to 'hold on' longer before answering the call to wee.
Sometimes I think foods affect me, anything with a lot of potassium in it - i.e bananas, tomatoes, slim fastBlush. Caffeine deffo makes it much worse for me and I sometimes think I get the urgency thing and frequent wees before my period.
I've had a lot of investigations over the years without a diagnosis, but have tried bladder calming pills vesicare, they work for some folks, I think they are an anti-spasmodic thingie to dull the sensation of needing to go. Maybe worth a try? They make your mouth and everything feel dry though.

Reducing intake of tea coffee, alcohol and acidic drinks like fruit juice can help.

You may have a touch of overactive bladder .

I have the same thing. My bladder has been my nemesis for as long as I can remember. I wake up to wee twice a night (more if I drink anything after 6pm), and need to go every half hour if I have anything to drink. Even if I drink nothing the longest I can go is 1.5 hours.

My mum took me to the GP about it when I was about 14 and they did lots of tests before concluding there was nothing wrong Hmm

It really affects everything........I can't go anywhere if i don't know there will be a toilet to hand, and long journeys are a nightmare.

I've always needed to wee often-so does my mum although as she;s now 88 think that can be excused!But driving me nuts lately and can sympathise with the bedtime comments.Even declined doing a charity hike with mates recently as worried about where and how often I would need to relieve myself.Otherwiswe fit and healthy and don;t overdo the teas and coffees-daren't!It gets me down lately and just going through menopause -early stages -so maybe that's not helping.Sure it;s becoming psychological also cos I now worry about wether I ca hang on if at theatre,out socialising etc.What a pain!
