new glasses

Hi, my daughter has just had her eye test and she's slightly long sighted and will need glasses for reading and wirting.
I just wondered if she'll be o.k to keep them on for coppying work off the board?
If she needs them only for close up work, would it damage her eyes or make it harder to see the writing on the board with them on as it'll be further away?

I am a lot older than your DD of course but recently got glasses for the first time (I'm long sighted too) and was told that keeping them on all the time was fine - and in the first few weeks I was encouraged to keep them on as much as possible.

But I would phone up and check with whoever tested your DDs eyes.

Thank you. Smile She is only 5 so taking them on and off all the time would probubly wreck them within a week.
I'll ask when she goes back to have them fitted.

They usually sort the prescription out so adapting to looking at the board is not usually a problem. However if she has a very high prescription and she struggles to cope with switching from close to distance work, they might offer her vari or bi focals.

Both my DDs were very long sighted when they were little. DD1 preferred bifocals where DD2 liked the varifocals. As the prescriptions came down as their eyes improved they were both taken back to single vision lenses.

She should be fine then as she's only slightly long sighted.
