Any dentists about? Treatment whilst pregnant.

Just wondering really. I am pregnant, but think I may need dental treatment. I have a tooth that hurts only when I chew anything hard(ish) with it, it does not hurt in between times and does not hurt when I press it with my finger. It's like a very short, sharp pain, like something is pressing on the nerve.

I have a filling in the tooth and I have checked with a dental mirror thingy that there is no additional decay around it, but I have a feeling I probably need the filling replaced (I haven't seen a dentist for 3 years or so...oops).

I have an appt with a new dentist in a few weeks and just wondered if I need any work done will they be happy to do it whilst I am pregnant, or will they have to wait until the baby is born? I am 22 weeks pg by the way.

i had a filling (my fist ever - sob) when i was about 8 months pregnant. i believe he had to not use additional adrenaline in the anesthetic as they usually would have, this woudl apparently speed up the effectiveness or something. anyway it was all fine and i didn't feel a thing

Phew for no pain! I am not too keen on the dentist, hence my rather too long absence from them lol. Glad that I can still have some anaestetic, don't think I would survive without it (sadly I have quite a few fillings to judge from, despite keeping my teeth very clean).

I admit I would brick it alot if it turned out I needed root canal work or something, god I hope not!

I had root canal surgery while heavily pregnant. They couldn't do an x-ray, obviously, but they could use anaesthetic. They had to use a combination of looking in the cavity and me hollering when they reached a healthy nerve to know when they'd drilled all the decay out.

It was fine though. Don't worry, you'll be ok.
