Constant Diarrhoea?

I had a stomach bug about four weeks ago and now am suffering from constant diarrhoea. The doctor thinks I may have become temporarily lactose intolerant, however it does not just seem to be triggered by lactose in food. I am waiting for the results of a stool sample. I just wanted to know if anyone else has been through this and how it was resolved?

This might be it. However I have not had antibiotics, however my daughter has and I know that rather than allow a very small amount of sticky medicine drip on the floor I have licked it off the spoon. Could this really have set this off?

Try to eat yogurt with live bacteria like Onken Biopot. Some food like cereals, wholemeal bread can cause diarrhoea after gastroenteritis. I know that antibiotics are prescribed for the bacterial gastroenteritis. With the viral gastroenteritis it is not recommended to take in ibuprofen as it can cause more diarrhoea. My kids had gastroenetritis and for about one month or even longer their stomachs were sensitive to many different foods. We were given them yogurt and then we bought friendly bacteria in powder www.highernature.co.uk/ShowProductFamily.aspx?ProductFamilyID=43

I just found on the netdoctor this "When taking antibiotics, many people suffer diarrhoea, which may continue after the antibiotic course has finished." www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/diarrhoea.htm

Octavia09 I am concerned about giving this a go as the doctor did say that I could have temporary lactose intolerance.

As I said on OP I am not even sure that it is lactose intolerance, so perhaps this is the way forwards. Thanks
