Can anyone tell me, how long the treatment of the above injury can be.

Patient is now on complete bedrest (Accident happened Monday evening) and is having a brace on Friday, how long will she have to remain in bed, will she be able to sit up (not allowed to at the moment)

This is a very impatient 14 year old, who says she has no pain (but that may well be down the the pain relief she is having and after effects of anaesthetic after operation on wrist yesterday)

She think is she will be coming home on Friday, but that I cant really think that will happen.

Any Ideas?

Hi, i had this ten years ago. Had bedrest for three days, no brace. Was told i didn,t need one. Was back at uni in four days, walking to lectures, etc. Started working as a riding instrucor five weeks later. I was only in hospital three days. Hope she has a good recovery.

Thank You Viva,

Still waiting on what Physio says at the moment, they are fitting the brace at the moment, so will see what they say after.

One bit of advice is that I would pay for monthly private physio for her for a while (I'm assuming she's your daughter) if you can.

I didn't get any physio follow up, maybe because I moved from one end of the country to the other a few weeks afetrwards and never told my new GP.

I do have some lower backache now, not at the fracture site. But have been told by my chiropractor that its probably related to the accident. He reckons that although I was mainly pain free following the accident and thought everythign was OK he says that I would have changed my posture and being more "guarded" in that area. He says over the years my muscles have contracted due to my posture change and that's what's caused my disc problems. No idea how likely that is.

She is in a brace now, and will be for 6 weeks, seeing the physio 3 times a week to start with.

They are letting her home tomorrow, but only because we can put a bed on the ground floor and the bathroom is downstairs.

She has more pain in her arm than in her back she says, but she was walking around this afternoon, and after half an hour had to lay back down, and when pain meds are due is finding it hard.

Thank You for your help viva (and she is my DGD, but she will be with me as I live in a flat.)
