LLETZ Treatment and getting pregnant

Hello

I had my first baby January 2010. I had had a borderline result before getting P, and after having DD there were changes to CIN2 so today I had LLETZ treament to remove the affected area.

We were originally planning on having children quite close together, but obvioulsy this has interupted our plans. I would rather safeguard my health before bringing another life into the world!

The Dr who performed the op said I should wait 4 weeks to have sex, then I could crack on and get pregnant, as he was confident he would remove all the cells and the procedure would be successful. The colposcopy nurse said I should wait 6 months until I have a clear result and not get P before then.

Has anyone else been in this situation? Has anyone cracked on and got P?

The possible risks such as miscarriage, not carrying full term concern me, but there is apparently no link to these risks and LLETZ.

Any advice/experience would be gratefully received.

Thank you:)

I had a lletz treatment in march 2002 shortly after we got married...I then conceived in the July... I was told it would have no bearing on conception or birth and frankly was 19weeks pregnant at my 6 onthly check up

So I would go for it

It is a horrible expereince and a dreadful worry but I had no implications and all through my pregnancy noone was even vaguely concerned about it although I mentioned it every time just to make sure!

So I would follow your dr's advice wait a little while until all has healed etc then crack on...

Good luck

I would ring the colposcopy unit back and ask them which timeframe it is, explaining (as politely as possible) that you were given conflicting information. The staff should be aware of this.

It is also an opportunity to as k about miscarriage risks.
The colposcopists' website has information about treatment and pregnancy.
