losing an ovary -anyone had this experience?

I am due for a diagnostic laproscopy on the 20th Sept as since ym rhs fallopian tube was removed last November following a ruptured ectopic, the ovary on that side has caused me horrendous pain and has quadrupled in size. They do not think it's cysts. They are most likely to recommend either hormone treatment to prevent ovulation or remove the ovary.
I'm 35 have 2 kids, would like one more but accept that is is less than likely now.
I was told that early menopause can result from an ovary bieng removed and other side effects.
Can anyone elaborate so I am a little armed when surgeon tells me what's what?
TIA
Piff

Oh, Piffle, poor thing. My friend had hormone treatments that brought on early menopause following treatment for breast cancer. Don't know much else really, but she had to have the treatment or the cancer might have returned.
Could they rescue some eggs?

I had my right ovary and tube removed in 2000, they found that I had a cyst the size of a grapefruit on it I'd had a Laparoscopy to investigate why I hadn't conceived. Anyway I've had no side effects as such, I had IUI to conceive DS1 and conceived DS2 naturally

I was told it shouldn't affect my fertility, although I went ahead with IUI after 8mths of further trying.
No ones ever mentioned early menopause though.

piffle - just to point out we were told that it would take us longer to concieve our children, however it's not really if u think 6 months for the pill to come out of ur system, then 6 of DH being away, then I fell twice in 3 months after he got back. so fertility should be OK for you. as apparently the healthy overy 'win's the egg release by defult.
