Sudden onset adult stutter or speech impediment - has it happened to anyone else or someone you know?

Hi, I have changed my nickname as I don't want people I know to know this...!

in the last 6 months, I've started to not be able to get certain words out. Often ones beginning with S. Either losing whole words or not being able to get the whole word out.

It doesn't happen often though. Maybe 4 times a week? On a day it does happen, I really notice it (as it's so unusual for me).

I have had some other minor neurological symptoms (more urgency in going to the loo, some joint pain/muscle weakness) and some other symptoms that I thought weren't neurological AT ALL but now that I put a picture together, could well be.

Of course, this all together might be nothing but chances are that it is the start of something.

I haven't been to the doctor yet as I'm not sure about the speech thing. Has this happened to anyone else and been innocuous? I'm under no more stress than normal at all.

I think there are probably all sorts of things it could be but that listing them and worrying yourself isn't going to be at all beneficial.

It does sound like there's something going on, so make an appointment with your GP and take a list of your symptoms along. Whatever you do, DON'T start asking Dr Google Grin

in my late teens I started slightly stuttering due to anxiety, which disappeared once I felt better about life. But definitely go to the docs and get it checked out, together with your other symptoms.
